OUR STORY
K9 Companion Coaching was founded in November 2019 and led by Christopher Chai with the help of like-minded mental health and medical professionals, veterans, military family members, and friends. During his time in service as a clinical social worker in the Air Force, he provided therapy to members from all branches, and advocated for mental health clinics to adopt therapy dogs into their outreach programs and group therapy sessions to break 'mental health' stigma. He also assisted with his patients to acquire a service dog as they were separating from the military. Chris currently works in the Emergency Room at Madigan Army Medical Center as crisis management clinical social worker, serving active duty, dependents, adults & children, veterans and non-veterans.
What started as K9 Combat Coalition, with a mission of providing service dogs to veterans with invisible wounds, has quickly grown into a community driven initiative where we hope to continue our mission while educating and empowering ALL individuals who wish to better train and bond with their pups!
